Atletico Madrid and Portugal youngster, Joao Felix, has won this year’s Golden Boy award for the best under-21 player in Europe.
Felix won the award ahead of Borussia Dortmund winger, Jadon Sancho (second place) and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, Kai Havertz (third place), on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old scored 18 goals for Benfica last season before he left the club for Atletico Madrid last summer for £113million.
Speaking after winning the award, Felix was quoted by BBC Sports as saying: “I am very proud.
“It is the second time that a player from Atletico Madrid has won this award and I am happy.”
DAILY POST recalls that Felix was included in the final 20-man shortlist for the 2019 Golden Boy award.
