The administration of President Donald Trump has introduced new restrictions to the United State’s immigration policy and analysts fear this could affect legal immigrants into the country. The Los Angeles Times reports described the step as one of the administration’s most aggressive move and that it targets legal immigration. The new rules, according to the report, could deny green cards to immigrants who use food stamps, housing vouchers, Medicaid and other forms of public assistance. The country already has in place a law that makes it mandatory for immigrants to prove that they would not become government burdens upon entry. With the new rules, officers at US citizenship and immigration services will now weigh public assistance along with other factors such as education, household income and health to determine whether to grant legal status
